Gills Rock, Wis. (June 23, 2021) – Opening July 3rd, the Death’s Door Maritime Museum in Gills Rock will host a new, semi-permanent exhibit entitled From-Net-To-Table. Scheduled to run for at least two seasons (2021-2022) the new exhibit highlights the people who are part of the contemporary Door County commercial fishing industry: from the men working the nets aboard fishing tugs, staff at various processing facilities, to the women who serve whitefish meals to residents and visitor in local restaurants.
From-Net-To-Table is a photography exhibition that explores this modern day industry and the myriad connections of the many people that support it. Centered on photographs and personal interviews with everyone from fish tug captains to the hard working servers who serve guests at an area table, From-Net-to-Table is an intimate, behind-the-scenes view of one of Door County’s greatest contributions to the culinary and cultural landscape of Wisconsin.
The Death’s Door Maritime Museum in Gills Rock is open seven days a week, 10am-5pm, May through October.
