Fish Creek, Wis. (December 7, 2020) – Northern Sky Theater is pleased to announce Home for the Holidays: Wherever You Are, a multifaceted, interactive holiday extravaganza featuring a premiere concert, a daylong social media celebration, and an artist-created shopping experience called the Rekindle Market.
The capstone event of Home for the Holidays is A December to Remember, a collection of seasonal songs and stories culled from a dozen original Northern Sky productions. Most of these archival clips (ranging from 1994 to 2019) have never been seen before. Original Northern Sky songs like “Road Closings” (Naked Radio) and “Time Is Like An Angel’s Dream” (Belgians in Heaven), along with Christmas carols and original holiday gems from Northern Sky’s many past Home for the Holidays shows, will evoke the warmth of Door County during the holidays. A virtual choir of company members past and present will come together to close out the production.
A December to Remember will premiere the evening of December 12 (and be available on demand after that). That entire day, Northern Sky will host a seasonal celebration on their Facebook page, featuring appearances by Northern Sky company members near and far, including a holiday fashion show called Northern Sky Fashion Spy and multiple live installments of The Jeff & Katie Show with Jeff Herbst and Katie Dahl. For safety reasons, the day’s live components will be filmed with external doors open, adding Wisconsin-in-December ventilation to the event’s wintry mystique.
The final component of Home for the Holidays: Wherever You Are is the Rekindle Market, an online shop designed to support company members as well as the theater itself; profits from the Market are split evenly with the artists who created the offerings. Highlights include curbside caroling sessions, company-made cookie plates, holiday bedtime stories, cheese tray and pie-baking tutorials, and a cookbook of recipes from The Jeff & Katie Show. Also available for purchaseare Northern Sky holiday boxes (available for pre-order or to be ordered the day of the event) created by Door County Delivered. These boxes come chock full of Door County consumables and Northern Sky keepsakes, including coffee blends, hand-painted ornaments, and a Northern Sky jigsaw puzzle.
“With a name like Holly, I always think of myself as the holiday expert in the company,” said development director Holly Feldman. “And I think what we’ve got planned for Home for the Holidays this year is just great. Our Rekindle Market has elves, space bears, cookbooks, whiskey dropoffs, curbside carols—you name it. I love the personality of this company, and I think this year’s Home for the Holidays will be full of that personality, from the Market to the day on social media to A December to Remember.”
