Jacksonport, Wis. (April 21, 2023) – The response to the Open Door Bird Sanctuary’s naming contest was fabulous! They had a hard time narrowing down over 200 submissions!
Drum Roll Please: We are officially welcoming Oslo to Door County with a name that honors the region’s Scandanavian history. Congratulations to Kristin Miller, who will be treated to an ODBS private tour, cool ODBS-wear and Oslo’s first sponsorship.
Oslo came from Wild and Free Wildlife Rehabilitation in Garrison MN. He was found by the DNR, who believes he was hit by a car and suffered slight wing and eye damage. With this compromise to his hunting ability, Wild and Free sought out a new home and one that could provide a controlled climate for him during the hottest months of the year. They reached out to ODBS in late January and a few weeks later, everything was arranged to transport him to his new home here in Door County.
Thank you to those who participated! Read on to see the 5 runner-up choices and the folks who submitted them. They will receive 2 passes to attend an open day during the summer season. www.opendoorbirdsanctuary.org
