Jacksonport, Wis. (February 27, 2023) – Open Door Bird Sanctuary is holding its first ever Kids Spring Break Camp. In April 2022, the Sanctuary welcomed their first employee, Valerie Mann. Val comes with a great background in nature education to help expand the learning opportunities offered by ODBS.
The Spring Break Camp program was created as a way to get more kids outside and connected to nature. Parents or guardians can sign their kids up for one or all five of the camp days from Monday, March 20 to Friday, March 24. Each day is a different topic, but all days will incorporate time exploring the sanctuary’s 34 acres, meeting the raptors up close, and creating bonds with nature. We see camp as an opportunity for each child to come to a new place, try new things, and make new friends.
Open Door’s camps are designed for children ages 8-12. Campers must bring a lunch and be appropriately dressed to be outside. Camp hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and cost is $30/day or $125/week. Daily camp enrollment is a minimum of five (5) children and a maximum of twelve (12).
Registration forms can be downloaded off the Open Door website at www.opendoorbirdsanctuary.org under the “Events” tab. Links to the forms are at the top of the page.
