Jacksonport, Wis. (August 19, 2020) – The popular Hoot-e-Nanny fundraiser, held annually at Woodwalk Gallery, has been instrumental in providing funding for various larger scale projects at the sanctuary, but for the last couple years, those funds are used to balance out a more robust operational budget which includes one paid staff member.
Rob Hults, Executive Director and Director of Avian Training has been showing off the sanctuary in grand style this season between the public open days and a big surge in private tour groups of 10 or less. In addition, the sanctuary has added a couple of new bird residents and is under construction on both a new aviary and a utility shed, all volunteer built.
In addition to the pre-ticketed on-site event, Open Door is introducing several on line options that everyone can participate in and support free of charge. A unique auction go live on Sunday, August 23 on Biddigowl.com and Fund-A-Need donation stories can be found on the Hoot page on the sanctuary’s website.
On the day of the event, hosts, Rob and Jillaine, Development Director, will be seen in a video posted on the Hoot page and later that evening a video of Katie Dahl and Rich Higdon will be available as well.
In lieu of charging for these on line options, ODBS encourages everyone to donate in some way to help make sure the sanctuary is soaring into 2021! For more information on the event, contact Jillaine Burton Seefeldt.
Open Door Bird Sanctuary is 501 (C) non-profit and was established in November of 2010. For more information on ODBS go to www.opendoorbirdsanctuary.org.
