The Open Door Pride Festival includes three recognition ceremonies that highlight the power of a small community: the Sandy Brown Award, the mayor’s annual proclamation declaring June in Sturgeon Bay as Open Door Pride Month, and the IDEA Scholarship. The Sandy Brown Award recognizes a person or organization that has made significant contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community and has made Door County a more welcoming place to visit and live. This year’s award is designed by artist Renee Schwaller of Off The Wheel Pottery. The IDEA Scholarship is awarded to a graduating Door County senior who demonstrates a passion for inclusivity, diversity, sensitivity, and building community. Admission to all Pride events is FREE.
At nightfall, the Maritime Museum Tower will be illuminated with the rainbow pride colors. Open Door Pride’s mission is to affirm diversity in Door County through inclusion for all. We are a 100% volunteer organization representing the LGBTQIA+ and ally communities in Door County!
