Peninsula Pet of the Week: Shamrock

April 10, 2019 by Laurel Ciohon

Got mice? If you have a barn, stable, or outbuilding, you can save a cat and control your rodent population at the same time! Cats placed in the WHS barn cat program are independent and prefer to limit their interactions with humans.

Shamrock is one such cat who would thrive in a barn environment with other cats and animals. She is 6 years old and was brought to us as a stray. Having indicated early on that she would not enjoy life as a housecat, Shamrock would be great at patrolling your property and keeping the rodents at bay. Like all cats at WHS, she has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, as well as tested for FeLV, plus you get to name your own adoption fee!

If you’re interested in employing Shamrock or any other barn cat on your property, please email barncats@wihumane.org!
