On Monday, December 30 at 7 p.m., Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present its seventh annual Play It Forward concert, which brings together some of Door County’s best-loved musicians to benefit a worthy cause. Play It Forward celebrates the generous spirit of the holiday season: all the evening’s performers donate their time and talent, and audience members in turn make freewill donations toward a good cause. This year, donations received at the concert will benefit the Go Bo! Foundation, which funds cancer research, supports cancer treatment costs, and assists the families of Door County children during times of financial need.
This year’s Play It Forward lineup includes performances by pat mAcdonald, Big Mouth Trio, Dirty Deuce, Marybeth Mattson and Seth Raddatz, Ben Larsen, Terry Murphy & The Cherrypickers, Mark Raddatz, Spike & April, Luce Wheel, Sten Kordon and Solomon Lindenberg, Thor Thoreson, and Pete Thelen. This diverse and talented roster of performers will evoke the best of the holidays with traditional favorites, original tunes, and festive songs of the season.
A tradition that began in 2013, the Play It Forward concert series reflects the best of Door County life, including the peninsula’s tight-knit community and vibrant music scene. The annual performance was inspired by the life and legacy of Bo Johnson, a young Sister Bay resident who died of leukemia in 2012. The Go Bo! Foundation was founded to honor Johnson’s legacy.
Play It Forward will take place at DCA at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 30. There is no charge to attend, but freewill donations are encouraged and will go to the Go Bo! Foundation.DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m.More information is available at (920) 868-2728 or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
