Egg Harbor, Wis. (August 16, 2022) – Plum Bottom Gallery invites you to our Plum Bottom Road location on Sat. Aug 20 from 3-6pm for a Door County Inspired Art Show. Featured artists will be at the gallery with artist talks beginning at 4pm. This show will feature the work of Lisbeth Quebe, Valerie Weberpal, Scott Allen, Sarka Evans, and Mary White. The gallery is happy to welcome you to view this magnificent and one-of-a-kind collection in person and will bring you the show virtually via PlumBottomGallery.com.
Lisbeth Quebe has loved drawing since she first picked up a crayon. As a child, she took oil painting classes from a neighbor in her hometown of Decatur, IL, and went on to major in fine art at the University of Colorado. Quebe has no lack of subjects for her paintings. She goes on “photo safaris” to look for perfectly placed animals. She paints from these photos, as most animals are notoriously bad at standing still. She strives to capture not only the likeness of the animal but a bit of their personality.
Valerie Weberpal is a contemporary folk artist from Sycamore, Illinois. She describes her work as representational art, based on colorful, familiar shapes and a fantasy/dreamlike quality rather than realistic ideas.
Scott Allen’s work is based on various styles, including abstract, cubism, and impressionism, but the one constant is color (and lots of it). His bright and vibrant paintings will hopefully bring a sense of joy and calm to the viewer. He enjoys creating inspired and beautiful paintings from the bottom of my soul. Each of his paintings reflects his feelings, sensitivity, and passion, not to mention his love for the water.
Sarka Evans spent the first half of her life in Prague, Czech Republic, a city full of art and history. Once she retired from a career in clinical psychology, she devoted her free time to pursuing art. She creates stunning glass and stone mosaics, including many other natural elements like driftwood, tree bark, and clay.
Mary White lives a life of quiet seclusion in beautiful Jacksonport, Wisconsin. White states, “ I paint because painting is my job, and I love my job. My job is filled with all kinds of joy – the joy of paint and colors, the joy of frustration, and the joy of problem-solving. My work is a celebration of Door County, and it’s endless beauty.”
Join us for the opening reception of our Door County Inspired Art Show on Saturday, August 20. Artist will be present at the opening reception on August 20 from 3-6pm.
