Door County, Wis. (August 1, 2023) – PortSide Builders is honored to be a recipient of the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) Badger Craftsman Award, in New Home Design and Construction, $500,000 – $750,000 category.
This state-wide competition is open to all members of the Wisconsin Builders Association (almost 900 builder members, approximately 2,500 associate members). Build projects are judged on design, quality of construction, attention to detail, use of materials, price to value, functionality, and creativity. “Our members are true professionals and experts at their craft,” said WBA Director of Communications Alicia Naleid. “We are excited to have this opportunity for the public to weigh in on their favorites, and to show off the details and features of home-building projects all across the state.”
The award-winning PortSide custom-built home is situated on a unique waterfront property, a private peninsula offering panoramic views of the bay of Green Bay. It was thoughtfully designed and positioned to take advantage of the views from nearly every room in the house. Alan Shefchik, PortSide’s Custom Home Designer, worked closely with the homeowners to design a home that aligned with their vision, accommodated a waterfront lifestyle, and met their needs for space and functionality. “We had to stay within the footprint of the former family cottage.” said Shefchik, “Taking into consideration zoning and setback requirements, along with the beautiful views, we were able to design a home that showcases all the best this lot has to offer. To be recognized among some of the best in the state with the Badger Craftsman Award is truly an honor.”
The official announcement was made on June 21st at the WBA Celebration of Housing event at the Wintergreen Conference Center, Wisconsin Dells. Peter Kerwin attended the event to receive the award on behalf of PortSide Builders.
