Pottery and Pumpkins Show at Plum Bottom Gallery Sept. 17

September 15, 2022 by Laurel Ciohon

Birch Forest by Pat Black

Egg Harbor, Wis. (September 15, 2022) – Plum Bottom Gallery invites you to our Plum Bottom Road location on Saturday, September 17 from 3-5pm. Featured artists will be at the gallery from 3-5pm with artist talks beginning at 4pm.

This show will feature the work of Richard Einerson, Ed Brogan, Linda Deardoff, Rich Agness, and Pat Black. The gallery is happy to welcome you to view this magnificent and one-of-a-kind collection in person and will bring you the show virtually via PlumBottomGallery.com.

Richard Einerson’s love of woodworking started when he cleared diseased trees from his backyard and wanted to use the lumber in a meaningful way. While working on larger projects like flooring and furniture, he admired the natural beauty of the wood grain and wanted to find more ways to use the precious resource of salvaged wood. He learned the craft of woodturning which opened a whole new world of possibilities. Einerson specialized in turned bowls and vessels, decorative boxes, cutting boards, and other specialty items.

Design is in the essence of Pat Black’s process and originates in her sketchbook. After a piece is thrown on the wheel and trimmed, the carving of the design begins. Nature is Black’s focus, and she often brings in the natural elements gathered in the Northwoods or on the beaches of the Great Lakes. It is her hope the tranquil peace found in nature is reflected in her work. The entire process of creating a piece of pottery is a reminder of where life is centered.

Much of the inspiration for Linda Deardorff’s work comes from the natural beauty and the wildlife on the 5-acres she and her husband live and work. She hopes to create unique artwork that will provide years of enjoyment while bringing the natural environment “out of the woods” and into the home without further degrading our forests or wasting natural resources.

Rich Agness’s interest in clay began in high school. After receiving his art degree from Lawrence University, he became a high school art teacher. Later, he returned to his alma mater and served as a Dean of Students, Athletic Director, and football coach. In 1992, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a full-time clay artist and opened his studio, “Clay Heaven.”

Join us for the opening reception of our Pumpkins and Pottery Art Show on Saturday, September 17. Artists will be present at the opening reception on September 17 from 3-5pm.
