Ridges Field Trip to Explore Climate Crisis Impacting Local Plants and Animals

August 9, 2021 by Laurel Ciohon

Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (August 9. 2021) – How is the climate crisis impacting local plants and animals? Katie Krouse, director of operations at The Ridges Sanctuary, will lead a Climate Change Coalition field trip at The Ridges Wednesday, Aug. 18, to explore this issue.

Baileys Harbor is home to many threatened and endangered plants and animals. These species rely on the specific conditions which are found right along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Even the slightest changes in climate could pose a major problem. Krousewill explore the flora and fauna that rely on the specific conditions found here and discuss the threats to their survival.

This field trip, from 1–3 pm, is a fundraiser for the Climate Change Coalition. Cost is $40 per person; registration is required. The group will be limited to eight (capacity may increase if CDC guidelines allow). To register, contact Nicole Matson, 715-330-4660 or nicole@lnrp.org. Participants will meet at the Ridges located at 8166 Highway 57 in Baileys Harbor. Watch our website for updates.
