Sister Bay, Wis. (June 14, 2023) —The 9th annual “Roofing of the Goats Parade and Festival” kicked off in Sister Bay on Saturday, June 10 with “kids” of all kinds watching as Grand Marshalls Fuzzy Sunstrom and Dick Burress lead the parade with the iconic Wheel Barrel float followed by local businesses Peach Barn Brewery, Jerry’s Flowers, and Al Jonson’s. A.J. Dillon surprised the crowd by walking Floppy, one of Al’s goats in the parade and up on to Al Johnson’s grass roof where he threw footballs to the cheering crowd below.
Before the festivities, Sister Bay Advancement Association volunteers sold a record number of “Goat Drop Stickers”, with all proceeds going to the Koinonia Kupboard, a local food pantry at the First Baptist Church in Sister Bay.
Festival activities included “Play It Forward” concert at Al’s Stabbur Beer Garden, where local musicians donated their time and talents to benefit the “Go Bo” Foundation, the Swedish Pancake-Eating Contest, and highly competitive “stein holding” contest. Across the street, the Baron of Bubbles sent huge bubbles floating over Waterfront Park while kids created goat hats and played outdoor games. Some would say the event was the G.O.A.T.
