Door County Coffee & Tea Co. is excited to announce that Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, Stephanie Klett, will be visiting Door County Coffee on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 to help them kick-off their the celebration of their 25th year in business. Located in the Carlsville, Door County Coffee is an active supporter of tourism and is thrilled to have Stephanie join them to celebrate this milestone and the companies place in the local economy.
Like Klett, President and Founder, Vicki Wilson understands the importance of providing opportunities to live and work in a place like Door County. What started as a desire for Wilson and her family to find a way to make beautiful Door County home, as so many yearn to do, has developed into one of the premiere coffee roasting companies in the Midwest. Opening with a small, but ambitious team of two who handled the roasting, packaging and selling, Door County Coffee is now a company of 53 employees working in very specialized areas. Thanks to the early customers who believed in the coffee from the start, the Door County Coffee brand has taken off. Door County Coffee can now be found at the Café in Door County, in homes across the country due to the website at www.doorcountycoffee.com., in thousands of businesses from restaurants, colleges and universities, grocery stores and mass retailers throughout the US.
“In the beginning it was about a dream for me and my family to find a way live in Door County. The more research we did, the more we realized there was a real need for specialty coffee in our area. Door County visitors and businesses wanted and deserved a better tasting coffee and the idea was born.” said, President and Founder, Vicki Wilson. Fast forward 25 years, “This isn’t my story anymore…it’s the story of the 53 wonderful people who work here. It’s about their work ethic, passion for what they do, love of our customers and belief in our product. One of the most rewarding things about being a business-owner, is watching people grow. Giving them an opportunity and watching them take it and run with it.” They have certainly done just that.
Door County Coffee is truly a family business. “We’re proud that both of our sons, who have grown up in the business, have chosen to come back after college. Our oldest son, Doug, is the Director of Grocery and Mass Retail and our son, Conrad, is our Plant Engineer,” said, Doug Wilson Sr, CFO, who also joined the business after a 28-year career with Procter & Gamble. Daughter-in-law, Amanda Wilson, is Human Resource and Food Safety Specialist and many of the Door County Coffee team mates have been with the company, almost from the beginning.
Door County Coffee will have many ways for their customers and community to celebrate with them throughout the remainder of the year, including new limited edition anniversary coffees, contests and opportunities to save, both in the Café and at www.doorcountycoffee.com. More details will be released at a later time. Any questions can be directed to Erin Hoffman at 1-800-856-6613 or erin@doorcountycoffee.com.
