Ephraim, Wis. (April 16, 2020) – April 13 to the 18 has recently been designated National Shop Local Online Week, created by broadcasters throughout the United States to bring awareness for the need to shop local during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many Door County businesses struggle as they explore new ways to adapt, generate a trickle of income, avoid losing staff and move their resources, services, merchandise and more to a virtual-friendly online experience.
Fm 106.9 the Lodge and Rewind 97.7 lead the effort with Shop Door County Online as a part of bringing more awareness to helping local boutiques, restaurants, sole proprietor services and businesses that make up the fabric of our villages, paving the way for a stronger effort in small communities that will observe National Small Business Week later this spring, May 3–9.
“Every little bit can help and when we all do it at the same time, it can make a difference; the influx that a business might need to survive,” says Mike Mesic, owner of the Lodge and Rewind. “Every year, we lead the holiday Shop Door County effort for the Christmas season so this was a natural way to help.” Both stations have added significantly more messages online and on air to focus listeners and viewers to think of their usual purchases and quarterly purchases in an effort to click the ‘buy’ button on those items this week.
