Fish Creek, Wis. (February 23, 2026) – John Showman and Chris Coole, a duo specializing in old-time, bluegrass and folk music, will be featured in concert on Wednesday, March 4, at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek. Tickets for the 7:30 pm performance the third in the Inn’s winter concert series this season are $35.
Over more than 25 years and thousands of shows — in bands such as The Foggy Hogtown Boys and The Lonesome Ace Stringband — John Showman and Chris Coole have built a rare and intuitive musical bond. Their sound lives somewhere between old-time, bluegrass, and folk, where tradition and originality share equal footing.
Their repertoire spans the songs of John Hartford, Hank Williams, Dock Boggs, and The Band, alongside the fiddle tunes of Eck Robertson and Ed Haley. Their own songs and tunes draw from these sources to create something unmistakably personal and resonant.
The duo has performed at leading festivals including MerleFest, RockyGrass, Grey Fox, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Mariposa, Wintergrass, the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival, and the Bluegrass Hall of Fame and Museum.
Together the duo has released two albums — “Afield,” a collection of old-time fiddle tunes, and “Much Further Out than Inevitable: A Tribute to the Music of John Hartford.” In 2025, the group released “Big Wing,” the seventh Lonesome Ace Stringband album, which Americana UK Magazine praised as “one of the most entertaining bluegrass albums of the year.”
The concert will be preceded by an optional fixed price dinner at 5:30 pm. The menu consists of Guinness-Braised Short Ribs served over mashed potatoes, a winter salad, and Baileys Irish Cream cheesecake for dessert.
