Sister Bay, Wis. (October 25, 2022) – The Sister Bay Advancement Association has awarded the 2022 Sister Bay Volunteer of the Year award to Ron Kane.
For over 40 years, Ron has been active in government and tourism related efforts in the Village of Sister Bay. Ron served on the Board of Directors of the Sister Bay Historical Society and volunteered at their weekly Farmer’s Market. He devoted 30 years to helping grow the SBAA, both as a board member and several terms as President. In that capacity, Ron ran The Door County Festival of Fine Arts, and actively participated in all the festivals and events in the Village. The saying goes, “If anybody asks for help, he says yes. If they don’t ask, he offers his help”. Currently, Ron is a member of the Sister Bay Plan Commission and The Sister Bay Visitor Center staff.
To honor his service to Sister Bay and the broader Door County community, Ron rode as the Parade Marshall in the 76th Annual Fall Festival Parade, driven by his longtime friend and collaborator Steve Mann. The Sister Bay Advancement Association will contribute, in Ron’s name, to the non-profit of his choice, Feed & Clothe My People of Door County.
Thank you to all our volunteers, especially Ron who do so much to make our community a better place to live.
