Stabbur Beer Garden at Al Johnson’s

August 28, 2019 by Ann Kaminski

Stabbur Beer Garden at Al Johnson’s, the Scandinavian beer garden located in downtown Sister Bay, has assured its steady rise to local family favorite by filling an otherwise empty niche. Combining its family-friendly space, giant-sized outdoor games (Jenga, anyone?), a relaxed atmosphere, and a great beer and drinks selection, Stabbur added the new Kök

in 2018. The Swedish word for “kitchen,” Kökserves a unique menu that includes a Friday fish fry, melt-in-your-mouth Tenderloin sliders, and chicken tenders with fries with which both kids and adults fall instantly in love.

Despite being an outdoor bar, the season starts in early May and ends in late October thanks to Stabbur’s overhead retractable roofing system and an efficient gas-fueled outdoor heating system. Stabbur is comfortable and authentic, featuring the backdrop of a Norwegian log structure with green sod on the roof, in keeping with the aesthetics of the parent company.–Jude Genereaux
