Calling all artists! The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center is looking for artists to embellish an Adirondack chair or create a chair of their own for the inaugural CHAIRries street art program. Presented by the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center and Associated Bank, chairs will be blossoming throughout Sturgeon Bay starting May 2019. Artists are encouraged to apply for this unique collaboration of art and community in order to beautify the streets of Sturgeon Bay.
By creating an Adirdondack chair, artists have the choice to embellish, adorn, and enhance one chair or a pair of chairs provided by the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center. All chairs will be sponsored by local businesses and will be on display throughout the streets of Sturgeon Bay beginning May 13, 2019. The chairs will remain on display until Saturday, September 21, 2019 when all chairs will be ripe for picking during the live auction in Martin Park following Harvest Fest. Auction proceeds benefit the artists and future street beautification projects.
The CHAIRries street art program provide artists the opportunity to showcase their artistic talent and creative capability to both the thousands of Door County community and tourists alike during the summer season. Let your creative side shine and challenge yourself to create breathtaking street art. If you would like a chance to embellish a cedar Adirondack chair provided by the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center, or create one of your own, please contact the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center at (920) 743-6246 or email savanna@sturgeonbay.net. The application deadline is January 11, 2019. The CHAIRries street art program application can also be found online at SturgeonBay.net.
