Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (June 4, 2020) – Sturgeon Bay Utilities (SBU) and Destination Sturgeon Bay are partnering to bolster small businesses in the area. The not-for-profit utility will be matching every $50 gift card purchased through Destination Sturgeon Bay with an extra $25.
“The COVID-19 public health emergency increased the need for our community to support our local businesses,” said Jim Stawicki, General Manager of SBU. “Sturgeon Bay Utilities is thankful to Destination Sturgeon Bay for their efforts in getting the community back up and running, and we want to do what we can to help them.”
Community members interested in supporting local businesses can purchase qualifying gift cards in $50 increments in-person at Destination Sturgeon Bay, located at 36 South Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay, or by calling them at 920-743-6246. More information can be found online at sturgeonbay.net.
The utility will match each $50 gift card with an extra $25, with a limit of $100 in total matches per person. The free gift cards must be used by August 31, 2020.
“Sturgeon Bay Utilities’ commitment to the people and businesses we serve goes beyond safe and reliable energy,” said Stawicki. “We want our community to know they can count on us to stand by them through these difficult times.”
The funds for SBU’s Community Recharge project were provided by WPPI Energy, the community’s member-owned, not-for-profit wholesale power supplier. WPPI established the Community Recharge program to help its membership address the local health and economic impacts of COVID-19.
