Door County, Wis. (June 6, 2023) – After a three year hiatus, the Door County YMCA, in partnership with the Door County Medical Center, brought back the annual Senior Health and Wellness Day. The event, which focuses on promoting health and wellness for a stronger, healthier community, was held at the Sturgeon Bay Program center on May 31, 2023 and at the Kane Center in Fish Creek on June 1, 2023.
Participants in both locations were able to take advantage of various health screens such as; skin cancer, anxiety, depression, and blood pressure, all provided by Door County Medical Center staff. Additionally health talks were offered that addressed colon health, tick bites, improved memory through sleep, weight loss and foot health. The Y staff also provided fitness classes geared towards seniors and their specific health and fitness needs.
Sturgeon Bay event coordinator, Mary Claire McHugh, said, “This is such a great event to connect our community with the numerous resources available. We truly appreciate the partnership we have with the Door County Medical Center”. Kane Center event coordinator, Mae Daniels added, “The information provided through this event is relevant and helps our participants identify things they can do to improve their overall health and wellness”.
All attendees also received a free and nutritious lunch courtesy of the Door County Y and Door County Medical Center.
