Fish Creek, Wis. (October 2, 2020) – Northern Sky Theater is pleased to announce the addition of Susan Caldwell to their Board of Directors.
A former University of Nebraska faculty member and manager at Nestle USA, Susan Caldwell has been involved in non-profit leadership for more than 24 years. She has served in various capacities with organizations including the Girl Scouts USA board, the Purdue University alumni board, several church committees, and a condo owners’ association. For the past three summers, Susan has been an integral part of the volunteer corps at the Northern Sky amphitheater in Peninsula State Park.
Susan and her late husband, Jim, became Northern Sky Theater fans in the late 1990s during family vacations in Door County. Susan and Jim bought a second home in Sister Bay in 2004, and sharing their fondness for Northern Sky with visiting family and friends became one of their favorite activities. In fact, a gift that Jim provided as part of his estate was used to name Northern Sky’s production building in his honor. As Susan has said, “He would love to know that his name was on all the ‘practical stuff’. He was a practical guy.”
“We appreciated not only the performances, but the fact that Northern Sky was well-managed, which is not always easy as a not-for-profit,” Susan said. “Having done lots of committee and board work over my volunteer life, it’s apparent when an organization is well-run.”
“We are delighted to welcome Susan’s leadership to Northern Sky Theater. She will be a huge asset,” stated Board chairperson Cyndy Stiehl.
