Third Avenue Playhouse continues their 2019 season with The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, written by James Lecesne. The show opens on Thursday, May 16, 2019 with a pay-what-you-can preview performance on Wednesday, May 15.
Alan Kopishcke provides a tour de force in this production. The story centers around Chuck DeSantis, a brash New Jersey detective eager for a case that gets him out from behind his desk. On one extraordinary day, he finds it: the disappearance of teenager Leonard Pelkey. Digging deeper and deeper into Leonard’s life, Chuck follows clues that lead him to unexpected places, introduce him to surprising people, and show him how one boy’s bravery can light the way toward truth. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.
