Community members are encouraged to schedule a donation to support local hospitals and patients.
Bailey’s Harbor, Wis. (July 3, 2020) – The Community Blood Center (CBC), a local non-profit organization supplying life-saving blood and platelets to hospitals in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is hosting a blood drive on Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 9am- 12pm at the Bailey’s Harbor Farmer’s Market, located at 2392 Cty Rd F Baileys Harbor, Wis. The drive is open to the public and community members are encouraged to schedule a donation appointment.
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. To meet that need, 35,000 blood donations are needed across the country every single day.
“Blood is something that cannot be manufactured or made, it has to be given as a gift from one person to another,” Kristine Belanger, vice president, donor services, The Community Blood Center, said. “Every person who comes out to donate blood gives the best gift anyone can give, the gift of life.”
CBC’s focus is on providing blood and blood products to local hospitals, to meet the needs of local patients. In more than 30 years, no hospital serviced by CBC has had to cancel a scheduled surgery due to a lack of blood supply. The Community Blood Center is proud to be the sole provider of blood to the Door County Medical Center.
