Ephraim, Wis. (June 17, 2021) – The Hardy Gallery is pleased to announce the award winners of the 59th Annual Juried Exhibit. Out of 143 submissions from artists throughout the Peninsula and Midwest region, five individual artists were awarded financial merit awards for outstanding work, including Best in Show (Francis Hardy Legacy Award), Second, and Third Place Awards, the Julia Van Roo Bresnahan Artistic Achievement Award, and People’s Choice Award. In addition, three artists were awarded an Honorable Mention Award for exemplary work.

The winning artists are, First Place Award Winner, Treena Rice-Buehler “So in the Water, She Wanted to Stay”, Second Place Award Winner, Vicki Bley “Water Lilies Adrift”, Third Place Award Winner, Dan Anderson “Last Rays Shiprock NM”, People’s Choice Award Winner, Brian Pier, “Breaking Waves” and Patrick Doughman “Days Past” received the Julia Van Roo Bresnahan Artistic Achievement Award.

The artists selected to receive an Honorable Mention Award went to, Randall Dettmann, “The Administration”, Annette Schuh “Ripening” and Nicki Shockz “Paradise”.

Beginning in 2020, the Annual Juried Exhibit merged with the Wall-to-Wall Salon, selecting one judge to jury the show to determine the awards. For 2021 we were grateful to have Madison based printmaker and painter, Barry Roal Carlsen to jury our Annual Juried Exhibit.

As always jurying can be an extremely difficult process but Carlsen walked away confident with his final choices and was able to award artwork that displayed the finest in craftsmanship, skill and aesthetics.

The 59th Annual Juried exhibit is now on view until Sunday, July 11 until 3 p.m. A Juror Talk will be held online June 18, and available on the Hardy’s website. For more information about upcoming events please check out the Hardy’s website www.thehardy.org.

Admission to the gallery is FREE. The Hardy Gallery is open daily, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday, 12 – 5 p.m. The gallery is located in the heart of Ephraim’s historic district on Anderson Dock (3083 Anderson Lane). For more information, call 920- 854-2210 or visit www.thehardy.org.
