The Wisconsin Humane Society Launches New Adoption Promotions as Animal Populations Continue to Rise

June 29, 2026 by Laurel Ciohon

Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is launching new adoption promotions to help more animals find loving homes as shelter populations continue to rise.

WHS is currently caring for more than 1,100 cats across its campuses and has more than 100 dogs available for adoption, as well. To encourage adoption traffic, all WHS locations are currently offering these adoption specials through July 31:

  • 50% off kitten fees
  • Name Your Own Fee for cats 6 months and older
  • 50% adoption fees for dogs 6 months and older
  • Name Your Own Fee for “benchwarmer” dogs

To view animals available for adoption, visit www.wihumane.org/adopt. Adoptions are first-come, first-served, pending a successful match, and same-day adoptions are available. Adoption counselors work with each adopter to help find the right match.

“We have so many fantastic animals looking for new homes this weekend,” said Corey Viars, media specialist for the Wisconsin Humane Society Green Bay and Door County Campuses. “These initiatives not only help more animals find loving homes, but they also help reduce our population so we can help even more animals and families in our community.”

If adopting isn’t an option, becoming a foster parent is another meaningful way to help. WHS’s network of foster families provides temporary homes for animals, helping to create more space for animals in need. WHS supplies foster parents with everything they need to care for their foster animal. To learn more about fostering or to sign up, visit wihumane.org/foster.
