Fish Creek, Wis. (January 13, 2025) – In its first concert of the new year, the White Gull Inn welcomes back the five member band Third Coast Bluegrass, on Wednesday, January 22. Tickets for the 8 PM concert are $35.
The band first performed at the White Gull two years ago. Third Coast members should be familiar to Door County audiences, as all are stalwarts of the midwest bluegrass scene since the 1970’s. Banjo player Ken Finkel and fiddler Peter Knupfer were members of the popular Grass, Food and Lodging band, and Don Stiernberg was a member of the Morgan Brothers. Both bands regularly performed in the seventies and early eighties at the Blue Ox in Baileys Harbor and Omnibus Ski Hill in Fish Creek. Bassist Marc Edelstein was a founding member of Special Consensus, a band well known to Door County audiences, and lead singer and guitarist Jerry Wicentowski has fronted numerous Wisconsin bluegrass bands for decades. The band of friends all had long careers in other bands before coming together in 2021. For example, Stiernberg, studied mandolin with the legendary Jethro Burns and today is regarded as one of the top jazz mandolinists in the country.
An optional pre-concert dinner served at 6 pm features Santa Fe stew (pork, black beans and sweet potatoes); cornbread; Southwestern Salad (romaine lettuce, sweet corn and roasted butternut squash in cilantro avocado dressing); and Key Lime pie.
Tickets for the concert and reservations for the pre-concert dinner can be obtained by calling the inn at 920-868-3517.
