Manish and Kelly Khemchandani might still be somewhat new to Door County, but they are not new to the jewelry business. When they met in Saint Thomas in 2012, Manish was selling jewelry on the tropical island. Their mutual love for fine gemstones and beautiful pieces inspired them to eventually open their own store, Trilliant Diamonds & Jewelry, in 2016 in Fish Creek. Kelly, a Wisconsin native, spent every summer in Door County, so deciding to make a home here made perfect sense. Even if this little Door peninsula isn't tropical, it's definitely beautiful. Both places inspire Manish and Kelly's pieces.

Kelly told me she loves Manish's passion for jewelry. "He likes to get to know his customers. He loves educating them to help them understand what they are buying," she said. "He thoughtfully hand-picks each item we sell, and he's often part of the design process." Kelly and Manish also pride themselves in choosing new and different pieces each season so return customers can find new and unexpected jewelry each year they stop in.

As I tried on everything from a hand-woven silver bracelet from Bali (pictured bottom right), to a stunning custom Morganite engagement ring, to a bracelet with one-of-a-kind Door County beads, I was instantly put in a trance with the beauty and uniqueness of each piece. A huge statement necklace (pictured middle right) made of colorful natural stones – spiny oyster, lapis, and bleu and white quartz – instantly took me away to the tropical Caribbean island that Kelly and Manish spent many years of their lives on.

As I was on my way out the door, Kelly graciously gifted me a gorgeous gold bolo bracelet I had complimented. Completely unexpected, I was so grateful for the beautiful gift! This is a true testament to the kind of people Khemchandani's are – warm, inviting, and generous. They treat each customer with respect and kindness, something that is not always easy to find, but is the kind appreciativeness you tend find with Door County's small business owners.
