Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (November 4, 2021) – Join Destination Sturgeon Bay, Door County Coffee, and the entire Sturgeon Bay community for holiday fun during the 2021 Christmas by the Bay holiday parade and Unwrapping Sturgeon Bay for Christmas by the Bay weekend, November 19-21 in Sturgeon Bay.
Bring your family and friends to Sawyer Park on Friday, November 19 for the second ‘Unwrapping Sturgeon Bay’, a community car parade. Community members are encouraged to join Destination Sturgeon Bay and Door County Coffee at Sawyer Park between 5:00pm and 5:45pm. Destination Sturgeon Bay staff will line cars up for the parade, led by the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department, Police Department, and Santa. Destination Sturgeon Bay will also be partnering with WBDK 96.7 FM, to add to the ambiance of the night.
Beginning promptly at 6:00pm, Santa will lead the parade throughout Sturgeon Bay. As Santa passes participating businesses, they will unveil their window decorations for the first time. Community members riding in the parade will get to see Sturgeon Bay lit up for the first time this holiday season. This Christmas tradition begins at Sawyer Park up Oak Street to Madison Avenue, continues right on Madison Avenue and over the Michigan Street Bridge. Parade participants will advance down Third Avenue, to Jefferson Street where they will take a right on 4th Avenue, past Nicolet National Bank, and will end at Sturgeon Bay City Hall. Participants are encouraged to park at Market Square and walk the streets of Sturgeon Bay before the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Community Foundation Square at 8pm.
Whether you are marching or watching, you will be impressed with the floats and festive gear on Saturday, November 20 for the Christmas by the Bay parade in Sturgeon Bay! Wave to Santa as he cruises past and dances along to classic Christmas carols. Parade participants will be entered in either the ‘Best Non-Profit’ or ‘Best Business’ float competitions.
Parade line-up on Saturday, November 20 begins at 9:15am at Sawyer Park. From there, participants will check in with the parade coordinator who will direct them to their designated spot. The parade begins at 10am leaving Sawyer Park via Oak Street, travels down Madison Avenue and then crosses the Oregon Street bridge. The parade proceeds down 3rd Avenue and finishes at Jefferson Street.
