Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (October 28, 2021) – The reigning champion DCU Girls High School Swim Team will be hosting the 2021 Bay Conference Championship meet at the Door County YMCA – Carla and Ellsworth Peterson Aquatic Center this Thursday, October 28th.
Door County United, which consists of three area schools–Sturgeon Bay, Sevastopol and Southern Door–is undefeated this season, and looking to repeat as conference champions. Six other teams from the Bay Conference will be competing in 16 events for the title. DCU is under the leadership of Coach Kelly Oram-Rankin and an experienced team of assistant coaches.
DCU swimmer Christina Braun, who will compete in multiple events, is currently undefeated in the 200 I.M. Freshman phenom Julia Michalski as well as Phoebe Bissen and Sonya Wienke are just some of the DCU swimmers expected to win their events with outstanding times. At thefinale of Thursday’s championship meet, DCU will announce the Swimmer of the Year and Senior of the Year awards.
For over 30 years, the Door County YMCA has built a strong reputation for excellence in swimming, turning out over 30 Division 1 NCAA athletes, numerous national record holders, and recently witnessed 2018 Sevastopol graduate Max McHugh join the U.S. Men’s National Team in 2021. Through quality swim lessons, the Door County YMCA promotes water safety for all ages in an effort that every child and adult will learn how to swim.
The 2021 High School Girls Swimming Varsity Bay Conference Championship will take place Thurs. Oct. 28th at 5 p.m. at the Door County YMCA’s Carla and Ellsworth Peterson Aquatic Center at 1900 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.
