Vintique Brings Beautiful and Affordable Thrifting to Ephraim

October 26, 2017 by Laurel Ciohon

You may have noticed the unmistakable building in towards the north-end of Ephraim with the tent-sloped roof that has sat empty for the last couple years. Having been a hair salon and a bakery amongst other things the last few decades, it was in dire need of something new and fresh. Enter Briana and Derek Holm, along with their business partner, Laure Benetti. New residents to Door County (they’ve been spending summers here since they were kids), the Holm’s were looking for the perfect location to open their dream shop. After many building renovations last winter, Briana and Derek opened Vintique in April 2017.

According to their Facebook page, “Vintique offers an eclectic mix of antiques, vintage, seasonal and contemporary accents.” My mom had raved to me about how fabulous it was, so I knew it was something great before I even stepped foot inside. On a particularly rainy Friday, the two of us decided it was the perfect day to hit up our favorite Door County thrift stores.

As we browsed the delightful shop, I kept pointing out items I wanted. When I’d check the prices – expecting them to be high – I was always pleasantly surprised at how extremely reasonable they were! I’m thrift store-obsessed, and it’s always disappointing when used items are over-priced. This was definitely not the case with Vintique. Some of the items I left with were a large, gold feather-shaped table centerpiece (for my coffee table), a heavy gold-plated snake doorstop (yes, I love gold!), and a solid wood wall art piece (for my kitchen).

Vintique also offers seasonal items (Christmas, Halloween, etc.), repurposed and painted furniture, rare antiques, garden art, kid’s items, and so much more. Their items are constantly changing. Everything is hand-picked by the owners and there is definitely something for everyone. Briana and Derek are the most kind and gracious store owners you can imagine and are a pleasure to talk to. I’m anxious to go back soon to see what new treasures they have in stock!

Vintique is open daily from 10am-5pm, closed on Monday’s, April – October, and open weekends November – March. It is located at 10254 N. Water Street (Hwy 42) in Ephraim. Gift certificates available. Follow them on Facebook and visit them online at vintiqueresale.com. 920.854.8060.
