Fish Creek, Wis. (April 10, 2026) – Peninsula Players Theatre is calling for passionate individuals to join its volunteer team, affectionately known as the Broom Squad, for its Spring Clean event on Saturday, May 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Volunteers are asked to sign up on the Volunteer page of the Peninsula Players Theatre website (https://peninsulaplayers.com/volunteer/) or call the Box Office at (920) 868-3287 to register in advance, as a chili lunch is provided for the volunteers.
For more than 30 years, the Pete Schuster Memorial Broom Squad has gathered at the Peninsula Players Theatre each Saturday morning before Mother’s Day to help prepare the grounds and residential rooms for the Theatre’s company members.
Spring Clean marks the first green shoots of the season at Peninsula Players Theatre, as dedicated volunteers arrive to generously offer their time and energy in preparing and maintaining the beloved Theatre in a Garden. Pete Schuster, for whom the Broom Squad is memorialized, originally brought together a small group of about 10 friends. Over the years, that modest gathering has grown into a cherished and highly anticipated annual tradition.
Broom Squad volunteers assist with a variety of outdoor projects, including moving benches from winter storage, spreading wood chips, and clearing fallen branches. They also take on indoor tasks such as dusting, cleaning, and preparing the dormitories and theater facilities for occupancy.
Volunteers bring their own tools, along with the most valuable tools of all: enthusiasm, camaraderie, and a can-do spirit, supporting the full-time staff in readying the property for incoming company members.
To register for the Broom Squad or other volunteer opportunities at Peninsula Players Theatre, visit our website, phone the Box Office at (920) 868-3287 or email peter@peninsulaplayers.com.
