Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (December 28, 2020) – The Board of Directors of the Door County YMCA has appointed Heidi Erickson as the fifth CEO in the thirty-four-year history of the Door County YMCA. Heidi will begin her new position on January 4, 2021 and will replace Tom Beerntsen who is retiring in January after a long and distinguished YMCA career.
Erickson served as the Door County YMCA’s Northern Door Branch executive from 2016 through 2019 when she moved to Green Bay to join the YMCA staff as Branch Executive of the Green Bay Association’s East Side Y branch. She has an extensive background in programming and has also worked with the Appleton Park and Recreation Department and the Eau Claire YMCA where she served as Associate Executive Director.
“We are excited to welcome Heidi back to our Y,” says Mike Felhofer, chair of the Door County YMCA Board of Directors. “She knows our community, members, donors and staff. We feel fortunate she will be joining us during this challenging time and we are confident she will hit the ground running and lead our organization to an even greater level of service to the community.”
“I am deeply honored for the opportunity to be back with the Door County YMCA. I am ready to join the forward-thinking and hardworking staff, work with our strong Board of Directors, and alongside community leaders and partners. With this established team and support, I am confident we will build upon and grow the foundation that has been laid and the Y will continue to be an asset to the Door County community,” Erickson concluded.
