Fish Creek, Wis. (August 19, 2022) – On Sunday, August 28, at 8 p.m., Western swing pioneers Asleep at the Wheel will perform their high-energy honky-tonk music on the Door Community Auditorium (DCA) Main Stage.
Founded in 1970, Asleep at the Wheel has been part of the American roots music landscape for more than 50 years. Although the band got its start on a farm in Paw Paw, West Virginia, Asleep at the Wheel became a cornerstone of the Austin, Texas, scene upon its arrival there in 1973. Since then, the band has accrued 10 Grammy Awards, 20 studio albums, and 20 singles on the Billboard country charts—all told, they’ve sold 1.5 million records. Five decades in, Asleep at the Wheel is still an important cornerstone of American roots music.
Country Standard Time wrote, “Asleep at the Wheel has managed to keep the flame of Western Swing music alive for 49 years and with shows like this, showed no signs of slowing down.”
Asleep at the Wheel’s performance is made possible with support from supporting sponsors Nathan Nichols & Company, Parkwood Lodge, and Ella Stolz.
The show begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 28. Tickets range from $35 to $58. Visit the DCA website for more information about current Covid protocols.
