Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (February 5, 2024) – A reminder that the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay is open seven days a week, 10am-4pm, now through April.
This quieter time on the peninsula is a great opportunity to leisurely explore the museum in Sturgeon Bay, especially the Jim Kress Maritime Lighthouse Tower! The 118-foot Tower – the tallest building in two counties and the fifth tallest structure in Northeast Wisconsin – is the newest landmark in our historic maritime community. Exhibits within the Tower use state-of-the-art interactives designed to capture the imagination and immerse visitors in the experience of Wisconsin’s rich nautical heritage.
Steer a Great Lakes freighter through the narrow ship canal in a winter storm…or imagine the deck rolling beneath your feet as you try to keep a sailing ship from capsizing in monster waves. Hard-working anglers, ship captains and lighthouse keepers are just some of the personalities you’ll discover in the galleries of the Door County Maritime Museum…where Great Lakes maritime history comes alive!
