August 9, 2022 by Laurel Ciohon

Egg Harbor, Wis. (August 9, 2022) – Wisconsin Cheese Masters is partnering with Open Door Bird Sanctuary for the 3rd year to raise funds toward monthly food costs which have doubled this year. The spirit of support that defines the Door County Community sometimes brings birds of two different feathers together. That’s the case with Egg Harbor’s Wisconsin Cheese Masters and Jacksonport’s Open Door Bird Sanctuary. Wisconsin. Cheese Masters owners Katie Harding and Jim Pionkowski prioritize giving back and are excited to invite ODBS back again this year.

As a result, Sunday August 14th will be an “ODBS and You” fundraising day at Wisconsin Cheese Masters and from 10-2 you can meet up with some of the majestic raptor residents found at the sanctuary and help raise money toward the $1600 monthly food expense. The business will be donating 10% of the days sales so c’mon out and stock up on Wisconsin’s best cheeses!

Have you ever wished you could see that owl hooting in the distance? Or identify that big pair of wings flying high in the sky? Now is your chance! Make the most of it by purchasing some of award-winning artisanal cheeses from Wisconsin Cheese Masters. A portion of the sales will be donated to Open Door.

Proceeds will be put to work immediately providing monthly food for the hawks, owls, falcons, eagles, and turkey vulture that reside at the sanctuary. “We provide high quality food for our birds that insures their continued health and well-being and we will not compromise that in any way, no matter what the costs are, we are especially grateful for our business partners, like WI Cheese Masters,” says Jillaine Seefeldt, Director of Development and PR. “We are so grateful for Jim and Katie’s continued support and generosity, we are delighted to consider them a part of our team.”
