Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (March 28, 2023) – The Women’s Fund of Door County will host its ninth annual “Tales of Our Lives: A Story Slam” on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28 at the Door County Fire Company, 38 S. Third Ave., Sturgeon Bay. The event begins at 6 pm with social hour, light refreshments, and a cash bar followed by the program at 7 pm,
which includes music by Jeanne Kuhns.
“Tales of Our Lives” features local individuals talking about a distinct experience, relationship or lesson that has had a profound impact on them. Unique to this year’s event, each night will showcase five different storytellers.
Thursday night’s storytellers include Jennifer Aldridge, Jeanne Kuhns, Jeannie Hoffman, Nikkie Howard, and Symone Sandoval. Friday night will feature Scout Feldman, Milly Gonzales, Nikki Hedeen, Jess Holland, and Allison Le.
“In my story, I share one of the most challenging times in my life and how I navigated it,” says Le, one of this year’s storytellers. “I think this event is a great avenue to tell your story and hopefully bring some inspiration to others.”
“Storytelling is vital to a community,” adds Nikki Hedeen, event co-chair and former Women’s Fund of Door County board member. “When people are vulnerable, it leads to hearing each other and knowing that they aren’t alone in their experience.”
Tickets for this sell-out event go on sale March 27 and cost $20 prior to the event or $25 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at womensfundofdoorcounty.org or by contacting the Door County Community Foundation at 920-746-1786.
