Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (March 16, 2026) — The Women’s Fund of Door County will present its 13th Annual Tales of Our Lives, in collaboration with Northern Sky Theater, on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Northern Sky Theater’s Gould Theater.
This year five storytellers will take the stage to share their stories. Each tale will be accompanied by the music of Cathy Grier and will revolve around a unique experience, relationship, or life lesson that has left a profound mark.
“Tales of Our Lives is an opportunity to empower women in Door County through the art of storytelling. This event creates a unique, intimate way to honor and celebrate women’s experiences,” says Anne Barlas, Women’s Fund of Door County board member and Tales of Our Lives co-chair. “We are grateful to work in collaboration with coaches from Northern Sky Theater, who partner with storytellers to refine the stories presented at Tales of Our Lives every April.”
This year’s event features:
- Sally Everhardus: In a first for our event, Everhardus will show visuals during her story, reflecting on a lifetime of drawings, sculptures, and self-portraits to explore themes of self-doubt, illness, aging, and resilience, showing how art has helped her understand and reconstruct her identity over time.
- Cherryl Fonfara: Fonfara, a lifelong Chicago vocalist, loses her singing voice after illness and an accident, grieves the loss of her identity as a performer, and ultimately finds a new purpose by repurposing her voice and life in unexpected ways.
- Cheri Miller: Miller’s story centers around her summer college job at the Algoma Toilet Seat Factory and a “crappy” night she had there one sweltering August evening.
- Tracey Robertson: Sharing her journey from childhood trauma and decades of silence to truth and healing, Robertson encourages others to face their own difficult truths and take the courageous steps needed for personal freedom and growth.
- Betts Willams: Williams recounts a deeply personal journey of healing that begins after an injury and a serious car accident. What starts as a path of physical recovery gradually expands into the exploration of energy healing, ultimately leading the author toward a profound spiritual calling. This journey culminates in Williams becoming both a Reiki Master and a trained spiritual director.
Storytelling begins at 7pm and will include a brief intermission. A reception will follow the performances.
Tickets cost $35 each and can be purchased directly from Northern Sky Theater’s Box Office. The Women’s Fund of Door County looks forward to an evening of inspiration and connection.
Community members inspired by the Tales of Our Lives performances are encouraged to consider telling their own stories at a future event. Contact the Women’s Fund of Door County at womensfund@givedoorcounty.org for more information.
