Door County, Wis. (March 9, 2023) – The Door County community came out in full force to support the Y during our fourth annual Day of Giving, held March 7. From open to close at both the Northern Door Program Center in Fish Creek and the Sturgeon Bay Program Center, members rallied to raise awareness and funds for the Y’s Annual Campaign.
From racing rubber ducks, to sporting class t-shirts for wacky photos, to a coffee and bagel sale, our staff, volunteers and members were having lots of fun while working to build a better community. Together, nearly 200 people from around the county donated to our Annual Campaign on Day of Giving, raising a total of $19,268.
The Annual Campaign raises over $530,000 every year to ensure that no matter the race, age, economic status or social group, the Y is welcoming to anyone who wishes to participate in building a healthy mind, body, and spirit. No one is ever turned away from the Y due to an inability to pay, making the Y a safe haven for all.
This year, our fundraising was specifically focused on our Year-Round and Summer Foods Programming. The Door County Y’s Foods Program has made a significant impact on many families, thanks to our volunteers and supportive community. Our goal at the Y is to provide EVERY child – Y member or not – with a FREE, nutritious meal option, promoting a healthy spirit, mind, and body, while fueling brains and bodies of kids throughout the community. Nothing makes us happier than providing our youth with delicious snacks and meals and putting a smile on their faces! The Annual Campaign allows us to do that by providing scholarships and program assistance, which make the Y’s resources available to all.
THANK YOU to all of our donors; we couldn’t do it without YOU. When a strong YMCA provides meaningful opportunities – such as helping young people grow into responsible adults, supporting working families with child care, keeping a senior healthy and active, or offering wellness programs to combat obesity and chronic disease – our whole community benefits.
