Door County, Wis. (August 12, 2025) – 100+ Women Who Care Door County (100+WWC) Giving Circle continued its philanthropic platform of providing financial support to nonprofits of Door County at its 27th quarterly Giving Event. After presenting information about their community work, three nonprofit organizations received awards on Monday, July 28, 2025.
The total monetary award granted at the Giving Event was approximately $34,000 from 416 members. Door County Historical Society was the recipient of the main award of approximately $17,000 plus the opportunity to apply for a $5,000 matching grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. Peninsula Music Festival and Door County Knock Publishing Company received the secondary awards of approximately $8,500 each. The Ridges, the returning nonprofit, expressed appreciation for the impact the April 2024 award had on their community work. Amy Frank, 100+WWC member and the Executive Director, Door County Historical Society explained, “At the Door County Historical Society, we’re passionate about preserving and sharing the stories, buildings, and cultural traditions that shaped our region. This work is deeply rooted in the belief that local history connects us to our past, to one another, and to future generations. We know we’re not just preserving the past – we are helping shape a stronger, more connected community.”
After receiving the 100+WWC award, Frank shared, “The 100+WWC award will directly support our educational programs at Heritage Village allowing us to increase our offerings and activities, add staff, purchase hands-on materials, and provide educational resources that engage local families and children. This support will also keep our programs affordable and accessible to all, helping more people connect with Door County’s rich heritage in meaningful ways.”
“We’re honored and so grateful to receive this award,” said Andrew Phillips, the Executive Director and editor-in-chief of Door County Knock. “Because of the generosity of 100+ Women Who Care, we’ll be able to embark on our next major project of in-depth local journalism about an issue that affects Door County residents. This gift helps fuel our work to empower residents, build community and tackle tough challenges in our community through reader-powered local news.”
“It is amazing that this group of women can come together and make a significant impact on local nonprofits in Door County,” explained Anna Knapp, 100+WWC member and nominator for Door County Knock. “Every time I attend a meeting, I learn more about Door County – organizations that provide support to people, or something special about our area. I also love getting to know the ladies who make up this group; they are each change makers with big hearts!”
Lisa Harper, Executive Director of the Peninsula Music Festival (PMF) and 100+WWC member, remarked, “We could not be more grateful to receive this award. It will be used for key projects such as funding musician housing and shuttle service for patrons with mobility challenges. Thank you to the 100+ Women Who Care for their generosity to the Peninsula Music Festival.” Barb Ristau, 100+WWC member and nominator for PMF added, “It’s uplifting. In 1953, PMF was started by a group of women. In 2025, PMF will receive this award from another incredible group of women.”
The next scheduled 100+WWC Giving Event will be October 27, 2025, at the Donald and Carol Kress Pavilion, Egg Harbor. The selected nonprofits presenting information and organizational goals include Door Community Auditorium, Door-Tran, and Northern Sky Theater.
