Fish Creek, Wis. (July 1, 2024) – Gibraltar Historical Association is teaming up with David Watkins, a Vintage Music Expert, to bring the connection between Chambers Island, Paramount Records, and the Alexander Noble House full circle. Paramount Records, known for Blues artists Ma Rainey, Blind Lemon Jefferson, and Jelly Roll Morton, produced records in Wisconsin under the company name United Phonograph Corporation. Fred Dennett was the President and owner. How does this tie to Chambers Island?
Our program will allow us to delve into the life of Fred Dennett, the Ethnic Music Beginnings, and the Great Tunes of the time. Dennett’s enterprising spirit takes him from one opportunity to the next. He owned the entire island except the lighthouse and smoothly transitioned along with technological advancements. Our Gibraltar Talks promises to be a fascinating journey into this unique past.
Join us and be part of the discovery process. Learn the full story, the connection, and how we spin it.
