Baileys Harbor, Wis. (November 27, 2023) – The Ridges Sanctuary is giving families and friends a chance to spend time this holiday season surrounded by its natural beauty at its Natural Christmas event, on Saturday, December 9th from 3:00-6:00 pm.
Guests at the old-fashioned holiday celebration can walk down the softly lit Hidden Brook Boardwalk, roast marshmallows and chestnuts around an outdoor fire, and listen to holiday music in the Kaye Cabin, decorated in a “stories of the season” theme. Delicious cookies, warm cider, and hot chocolate will be available in the decorated Kaye Cabin.
The event also offers a wreath-making workshop and free holiday crafts for all ages. Guided hikes and tours of the Range Light are available throughout the event. The Nature Store will be open to shop for nature-themed stocking stuffers, housewares, and clothing.
“The event owes much of its success to the volunteers who make it possible – especially Jane Whitney and Julie Knox, who for 16 years have given their time, effort, and talent to make Natural Christmas an annual event for families,” says Ridges Executive Director Katie Krouse. “Come early, enjoy the trails, tour the Range Lights, listen to the music, make a craft, roast a marshmallow, make a wreath. It’s a wonderful reminder of how much fun a low-key, simple event can be, and a chance to experience the beauty of The Ridges Sanctuary.”
Admission is free. The fee for the wreath-making workshop is $30 and includes all materials for one wreath. Natural Christmas runs from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9th, at the Cabins at The Ridges, 8288 County Q, Baileys Harbor. For more information, call 920-839-2802 or visit ridgessanctuary.org.
