Door County, Wis. (December 31, 2024) – As part of an initiative intended to bolster support and resources for transgender people in Door County, local LGBTQ and ally groups Open Door Pride, Northern Door Pride and PFLAG Door County are seeking volunteers of two kinds. First, the organizations are seeking trans Door County residents open to discussing organizational resources and policies. Second, they are seeking volunteer advocates interested in becoming part of a network to support trans people in the county.
“Our plans are still taking shape, but we know trans people in Door County need our support, and we’re looking for ways to help,” said Open Door Pride founder Cathy Grier. “We want to make sure our help follows guidance from the trans folks already living here in Door County. And eventually, we’d like to create a support network, whether they’re trans themselves or simply allies who might be willing to become ‘advocates’ or logistical helpers for trans people on the peninsula.”
