Door County, Wis. (January 8, 2025) — The Peninsula Music Festival (PMF) is delighted to announce its 2025 FebFest series, showcasing three exceptional performances held on February 2, February 16, and February 23 in Door County, Wisconsin. FebFest continues the tradition of bringing world-class chamber music to Door County during the winter months, offering audiences intimate and engaging musical experiences. This year’s series includes one special show held at Birch Creek Music Performance Center. This year’s performances celebrate the extraordinary talents of PMF’s own Principal Percussionist, Pianist, and Flutist.
“We are excited to bring our first FebFest performance to a new space and to share these inspiring performances with the broader Door County community,” said Lisa Harper, PMF’s Executive Director. “These concerts showcase not only the artistry of our Principal musicians but also our commitment to fostering connections within the peninsula’s rich arts scene.”
FebFest 1: Christopher Norton – A Percussion Showcase
- When: Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM
- Where: Birch Creek Music Performance Center, Egg Harbor
(A unique venue for FebFest, chosen to foster collaboration with local arts organizations and honor retiring Birch Creek Executive Director Mona Christensen.) - What: Christopher Norton, PMF’s Principal Percussionist for three decades, presents a recital exploring marimba, vibraphone, xylophone and piano across classical and jazz genres.
About Christopher Norton:
Christopher Norton has been PMF’s Principal Percussionist for nearly three decades and is a Professor of Music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. A highly accomplished performer and conductor, Norton has appeared with the Nashville Symphony, Sympatico Percussion Quintet, and Alias Chamber Ensemble, among others. His expertise spans solo marimba performances, orchestral conducting, and compositions published by Innovative Percussion.
FebFest 2: Christi Zuniga – A Romantic Fusion

- Where: Kress Pavilion, Egg Harbor
- What: Christi Zuniga, PMF’s Principal Pianist since 2016, brings a Valentine’s weekend program blending classical and contemporary works. Actor Phillip Lotto will complement the performance by reading romantic poetry. Expect a delightful fusion of Beethoven with Billy Joel, Chopin with The Dolly Sisters, and more.
About Christi Zuniga:
Christi Zuniga, PMF’s Principal Pianist since 2016, is also Principal Keyboardist for the Omaha Symphony. With degrees in piano performance from Clayton State College and the Curtis Institute of Music, Zuniga has collaborated with esteemed musicians and performed extensively. She combines technical brilliance with a passion for connecting classical music to contemporary audiences.
FebFest 3: Susanna Self – A Flute Celebration

- Where: Kress Pavilion, Egg Harbor
- What: Susanna Self, PMF’s Principal Flutist, joins pianist Kate Boyd to perform a captivating program featuring:
- Sonata III in A Major by Johann Adolf Hasse
- Firefly Triptych for Alto Flute and Piano by Amanda Harberg
- Flight for Solo Flute by Adolphus Hailstork
- Sonata for Flute and Piano, Op. 94 by Sergei Prokofiev
About Susanna Self:
Susanna Self is PMF’s Principal Flutist and currently serves as piccoloist with the West Texas Symphony. She has taught flute at Interlochen Arts Camp, Texas Tech University, and Maryville University, and previously performed with the Saint Louis Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, and Charlotte Symphony. Residing in Lubbock, Texas, she shares her home with her husband, cellist Jeffrey Noel Lastrapes, and their two dogs, Joey and Lily.
About Kate Boyd:
Kate Boyd, an internationally acclaimed pianist and Professor of Piano at Butler University, has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall and the National Concert Hall in Dublin. Known for her versatility, Boyd has released critically acclaimed recordings and regularly collaborates with other musicians. She is a dedicated educator and active clinician in national and international conferences.

Initiated in 1998, FebFest is PMF’s annual winter chamber music series, designed to bring the festival’s exceptional musicians back to Door County during the off-season. These intimate concerts offer audiences a unique opportunity to experience chamber music in cozy settings, fostering a deeper connection between performers and the community. Over the years, FebFest has featured a diverse range of ensembles and programs, continually enriching Door County’s cultural landscape.
