Ephraim, Wis. (February 24, 2022) – The Peninsula Music Festival offers one college scholarship, and five summer music study grants each year to students who are residents of Door County.

The George Verheyden Memorial Scholarship:
This three-year, $3,000 college scholarship is awarded each spring to a graduating senior who resides in Door County. The recipient must be an outstanding music student who demonstrates great ability as a performer, shows dedication and a sustained interest in music related activities, and wishes to further his/her musical studies by pursuing an undergraduate major or minor in music. Monies must be utilized for educational expenses, and at the end of each academic year, beginning with the completion of the Freshman year, the recipient is responsible for furnishing PMF’s President and CEO with a written progress report, and proof of registration for the upcoming academic year showing continuation of their major or minor in music. Materials must be received by April 15, 2022.

Summer Music Study Grants:
Five $100 Summer Music Study Grants are awarded to music students in their freshmen, sophomore, or junior years of High School. One grant of $100 is available to each of the five Door County Public Schools. The mission is to help defray costs associated with summer music camps and private study. To be eligible, students must have demonstrated a sustained interest in music, and a clear commitment to further education in the field. High School music teachers are responsible for submitting final nominations, but students are strongly encouraged to nominate themselves to their music teachers for consideration. You may award $100 to one student, $50 to two, or $25 to four students. If you don’t have students to nominate, please let us know; otherwise, e-mail the student’s name(s) and what the study grant will be used for (i.e., name of camp or private instructor) to PMF’s President and CEO. Your decision does not have to be based on need, as monies can be awarded based on talent, motivation, and desire. All nominations must be received by May 13, 2022.
