Cooyah Tournament at BHC

BHC will host a cooyah tournament on Sunday, April 26 starting at 2:00. All skill levels welcome including beginners! Beer, cocktails and other refreshments will be available for purchase. A Night of Maple Syrup & History

Join the Door County Historical Society on Monday, April 27 for a warm, story-filled evening celebrating one of the peninsula’s most beloved seasonal traditions: maple syrup. We’ll gather at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay for a cozy dinner and an engaging presentation by local historian and lifelong community member Steve Jorns, sharing The History of Maple Syrup Production in Door County.

Renee Vaughan, Nyckelharpa & Walloon/Swedish Music

Belgian Heritage Center

Join us on May 2 at 10:00 for a unique musical performance. Renee Vaughan is a nyckelharpa player whose great-great-grandparents were Walloon and immigrated from Hachy, Belgium, to Wisconsin in 1856. Renee will share this history alongside traditional tunes from both Sweden and Walloon areas in Belgium. A nyckelharpa (“keyed fiddle”) is a traditional Swedish string instrument. BHC will be open on May 2 from 9:00 until noon for this event and tours of the campus.

Our Lady of the Snows Historic Cemetery Display Dedication

BHC, together with St. Francis and St. Mary Parish, will host a dedication of the new display honoring those buried at the historic cemetery adjacent to BHC. The new display area features an exhibit explaining the cemetery’s history, a listing of almost 200 people buried between 1860 and 1911 and a contemplative patio area featuring four memorial benches. Fish Creek, Wisconsin –  Peninsula Players Theatre is calling for passionate individuals to join its volunteer team, affectionately known as the Broom Squad, for its Spring Clean event on Saturday, May 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers are asked to sign up on the Volunteer page of the Peninsula Players Theatre website (https://peninsulaplayers.com/volunteer/) or call the Box Office at (920) 868-3287 to register in advance, as a chili lunch is provided for the volunteers
