Ephraim, Wis. (December 2, 2024) — The Peninsula Music Festival (PMF), a cornerstone of Door County’s vibrant arts scene, is thrilled to announce a special matching gift opportunity to support its mission of bringing world-class musical performances to the region. From now until December 15, all donations will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000, thanks to the generosity of PMF Chairman David Keen and his wife, Judy Perkins.
This matching gift comes at a pivotal time as the festival continues to navigate rising costs while ensuring that ticket prices remain accessible. The expense of producing each PMF concert—including attracting renowned musicians and soloists, acquiring music scores, and hosting performances at the Door Community Auditorium—averages $60,000 per event. With ticket sales covering only 25% of these costs, community support is vital.
Under the dynamic leadership of Music Director Maestro Rune Bergmann, PMF has recently featured acclaimed artists such as violinist Philippe Quint, soprano Jacquelyn Wagner, and saxophonist Branford Marsalis. These collaborations have elevated the festival’s artistic excellence, offering Northeast Wisconsin a rare opportunity to experience world-class music right in their own backyard.
Reflecting on the festival’s impact, Maestro Bergmann stated, “The Peninsula Music Festival is a truly special place where extraordinary music meets an extraordinary community. It’s my deepest hope to see this festival continue to flourish for years to come, but none of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our donors and patrons. Together, we can ensure that music remains a vibrant and inspiring force in Door County.”
Here’s how your donation can make a difference:
- $250: Helps cover the cost of music scores and rehearsal materials.
- $1,000: Sponsors an orchestra rehearsal and supports top-tier musicians.
- $5,000: Contributes to securing acclaimed soloists.
- $15,000: Provides the opportunity to co-sponsor an entire performance.
Donors will be recognized in PMF’s program book, highlighting their invaluable contribution to the arts.
“At the Peninsula Music Festival, we are committed to enriching our community through exceptional musical experiences,” said Executive Director, Lisa Harper. “Your support enables us to bring world-class performances to Door County, fostering a vibrant cultural landscape for all to enjoy.”
